Do you seriously believe that vouchers is a good idea to replace failing inner city schools?
"A school voucher, also called an education voucher, is a certificate issued by the government which parents can apply toward tuition at a private school (or, by extension, to reimburse home schooling expenses), rather than at the public school to which their child is igned. Vouchers are intended to allow citizens to spend their taxes toward the education of their choice without using a direct tax credit or deduction. Controversy surrounds whether this may undermine the public education system in areas where parents have the option of both public and private schools, and increase burden on the public education system as its funding and enrollment is threatened." Two things in your argument which is indeed different between public & private schools: (1) Public schools teach what will "meet the basic standards" while private schools teach an "exceptional standard" and (2) its students are "motivated to do the work" because it's teachers are motivated to teach! You cannot deny the logic in learning what the successful schools are actively doing to excell and DOING THAT and this is not accomplished by ignoring or berating their success rates. I guarantee you that it does not mean "throwing more money at the problem" which usually equates itself as "more union pay"!
