Should I take a carpentry course?

I want to sign up for a carpentry course but my husband is against it. He says its a waste of time because women aren't good at woodworking. "Not built for that sort of thing". I have mixed feelings about this. Most of the people in the cl are men, and maybe my husband has a bit of a point because I don't see many girls hammering nails and sawing wood in my neighborhood. But I've always wanted to try it, should I give it up just because I'm female? Seems kind of unfair. Advice?
