What codes do i need to set up a direct debit from an Irish bank account to an English one?

I thought it would just be account number and sort code, but my irish father has had trouble setting this up. Apparently two other codes were needed, one was called a BIC code, but i forget the other one... it is an i-(something) code. My bank is Natwest if that is any help :)
