HOOKAH SMOKING? is it bad?

so i was thinking about going to a hookah bar. everyone has told me that there are no side effects and that its not bad for you. i have tried looking it up but it seems there have been no studies on it. how can it be bad for you if they say there is no tar in the shisha right on the can?
